A rare set of 1965 Doctor Who badges are now for sale through eBay.

The four badges include two Daleks, a Menoptera and a Zarbi (with venom gun), the latter two from The Web Planet. Adding to their value, they’re complete with backing card – although they do, as the seller, denal1972, notes, show their age. The seller goes on to say:

The Zarbi card has a 2mm tear in the centre left but no other damage, just old-age wrinkles. Badges are in perfect condition and have not been worn.

Their condition is still excellent, however, with the starting bid of £30 quickly increasing. At the time of writing, it has 46 bids, taking its listing up to an incredible £1,040! It ends on 28th September, so it’s bound to shoot up even more.

Created by Plastoid Ltd., Leicester, the main Dalek badge (measuring about 6.5 cm in length) was initially priced at 1/3d, while the mini-Dalek was just 9d, and both were sold through Woolworth. Helpfully, all four are printed with the monsters’ names on. Plus, the seller has revised the original item, reducing the price of postage and packaging – to nothing!

If you have a spare couple of grand in your trouser pocket, well, it’s time to get bidding…
